Characteristics that are important

The Characteristics that I feel that are important. There are three I feel that are important to me

1)     Empathetic (pg49)- You need to be the teacher that sets out to see what kind of learner your students are and set goals with them to meet. Teachers need to have a strong relationship with their students. Engage their students.
2)     Problem Finder (pg49) (questions/answer)- Some school base a child’s learning on test scores and some students have a hard time taking test. That is why we need to get down to the questions of why we push students to do their best. And stop and see how we can help them learn. Make our children thinkers. Stop pushing them to do something that they have a hard time doing. Teach them its ok to take a test. Some kids just can’t think when they are under pressure.
3)     Networking (pg52)- Teachers need to use collaboration and work together to help their students. Use the networking as a tool to come up with lessons that will help the students learn.
4)     Creator (pg55)- Teachers need to be created and come up with ways to help their students learn. If it needs to be games that will help the students learn. Making the classroom fun and loving so they will love to come to school and learn.

Characteristics of the "Innovator's Mindset"

As I was reading about the 8 characteristics of the “Innovator’s Mindset” these are all good. There are a few that I feel that stands out more than others for me as a teacher. In George Couros’ point of view as teachers we are to start off with a question for the students and then wait for them to be able to answer the question. And that students need to be able to understand what they are learning. I agree with this they do need to understand what they are learning. Cause if they don’t they will not know how to answer the question. Sometimes we need to step in our student’s shoe and see how they are learning. Looking at problem finders letting the students know that there are several right answers to the questions and knowing there is no wrong answer. Students need to feel comfortable to want to answer the question. Teachers can help them solve the problem with a simple answer. Looking at risk takers its ok to let the students know that its ok to take that risk this helps the become critical thinkers. They can step out of their comfort zone. However, we need to let them know to be careful doing this. They need to be sure they understand what they are doing first. When we are networking meet with other teachers and see if they can give you some input on how to help them learn. Co-teaching or collaboration with each other. Observant I feel that this helps teachers. As educators we need to practice what we teach. Record what we teach and what the students learn. I agree where George Couros' states in the passage. That there is wisdom all around us. I agree, and it is up to us on how we can use it. Looking at creators make sure that we are created with our lessons and make our classroom warm, loving where the kids know they can learn. Come up with new ideas for them. It will be fun for them and you. When you see it is helping them learn you will feel like a new teacher. Resilient is where you need to keep trying even if its not working. Find a way to get it across to your students. Don’t let them see you given up because they will want to do the same. So never quiet. Last looking at reflective what will work and what will not work. Find it and fix it. What as a teacher can we build on?
