Implementing a High-Impact Environment Blog Module 2
How does instructional design impact P-12 student learning? When I was getting my bachelor’s degree I had to do lots of observations and learning from other teachers. Some teachers were well prepared to teach their students and there were some that didn’t have it together. I knew what kind of teacher I wanted to be. Looking at the reading that we read we need to know what we are going to teach. Higher level thinking skills are an important when teaching and planning your lessons. When teachers follow the 5 steps of the higher-level thinking skills. With the first step Determine Learning outcome and objectives helps the students be able to stay focus. Step two Facilitate learning through high impact activities. This is where you can come up with the activities that can help with the learning outcome. Step three allows frequent opportunities to practice before Assessment. This step allows the teachers to be able to practice the lessons with their students before they do any assessments. Step 4 Continue to revive, refine, and improve. This step is where we review what we taught and then we can refine our lessons if needed and improve how the students learn. Step five Assess learning outcomes and objectives. This step helps measured the students learning and see what the outcome is after the assessments are done. This will help you know what the students know and don’t know. Teachers need to be able to support and help their students learn. We want our students to be successful and that makes us know that we did our jobs right.
